Church Membership

The difference between “members” and “attendees” can be summed up in one word: commitment. It’s like the difference between couples who just live together and those who get married.  While becoming a Christian means to commit yourself to Christ, becoming a church member means to commit yourself to other Christians. It is a commitment to a specific group of believers, to practice the “one-another’s” of the New Testament.

Membership requirements

To become a member of Faith Community Church, there are three requirements. First, a person must have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior (see “Salvation”).  Secondly, a person must have followed the Lord in Biblical Baptism (see “Baptism”). Finally, the person must believe that God is leading them to unite with this church family. The Scripture says that, “God has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired” (1 Corinthians 12:18).

To become a member

To become a member of Faith Community Church, you must complete the Christian Life And Service Seminar (C.L.A.S.S.) 101 on membership.  This class is taught by Pastor Jim from 8:30 AM to Noon on the 3rd Saturday of every other month.

Membership responsibilities

It is the Biblical requirement of each member to try to:

1) Protect the Unity of the Church by acting in love toward other members, refusing to gossip, and following the leaders (Romans 15:5, 1 Peter 1:22, Ephesians 4:29, Hebrews 13:17).

2) Share the Responsibility of the Church by praying for the church, inviting the un-churched to attend, and warmly welcoming those who visit (1 Thessalonians 1:2, Luke 14:23, Romans 15:7).

3) Support the Ministry of the Church by discovering my gifts and talents, by being equipped to serve by my pastors, and by developing a servant’s heart (1 Pet 4:10, Eph 4:11-12 Phil 2:3-7).

4) Support the Testimony of the Church by attending faithfully, living a godly life, and giving regularly (Hebrews 10:25, Philippians 1:27, 2 Corinthians 9:6-7).
